Artwork for Week 6

This will consist of an installation of objects just big enough to fit into the palm of a hand. Each one should be a symbol from the giver, a gift, a thought, an idea, an emotion. Each one given by a different person to symbolise to asylum seekers, peace and prosperity. In this sea of objects small wax boats will float, creating a sea of images and words. Words in many languages are inscribed on the hulls of each boat, a convoy of peace.

The words/phrases are offered to us by both community members and asylum seekers who will help to develop the final look and feel of the work, the texts used and casts created. The boats will come in two different sizes. This project will involve public workshops. Please email us if you would like to become involved.
